João Vaz Estêvão holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, focused on the adoption of Information Technologies by tourism destinations to promote internal coordination among stakeholders.

He is a lecturer and researcher in tourism at the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, where he coordinates the Postgraduate Program in Wine Tourism and the Master’s in Tourism and Digital Communication.

His main research interests include the adaptive reuse of cultural heritage, smart tourism destinations, and destination marketing.
