He was a Board Member of several companies, including MARL and Parque Expo, a City Councillor at the Lisbon City Council, and President of the Lisbon Tourism Association, where he launched the Peixe em Lisboa project. He is also a jury member of the Lisboa à Prova competition.

He is President of the Portuguese Academy of Gastronomy and a member of the Board of the International Academy of Gastronomy. He also represents the Portuguese Academy of Gastronomy at the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy.

He is Secretary-General of the European Community of New Gastronomy.
