His main professional activity has been developed in the field of communication and political advisory, serving as Director-General of RTVE during the Spanish democratic transition and as advisor to Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez.

Much of his life has been dedicated to promoting the evolution of the gastronomic sector. He is currently the President of the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy.
